BC ABORIGINAL CULTURE - GIFTS OF TWO NATIONS

August Giftshop Promotion
15% of t-shirts, include First Nation printed fitted t's.

All along the coast there is a renaissance of BC aboriginal culture and art. Much of the carving - a major art form of this area – is better defined than it has ever been before. Where once there was a fusion of styles, now each BC First Nations culture is returning to our own roots to rediscover the unique style chosen by our ancestors, and accomplished artists are training and mentoring young ones who show a desire to excel. Many of the artists of our Squamish and Lil'wat territories are known nationally and internationally, some receiving commissions from companies and government agencies around the world.

In addition to world famous carvings, this part of British Columbia was historically known for the skill of its weavers. Now, through the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre, the Salish Weaving Program has identified the accomplished weavers of both nations, has researched historical blankets, baskets, and other weavings and is training a new generation of weavers.

Take home a piece of BC aboriginal culture. Purchase original artwork, exquisite jewelry, designer clothing, hand-carved yellow and red cedar artworks, ceremonial masks, cedar baskets, wool weavings, moccasins, limited-edition prints, beautiful silver and gold carved jewelry - all designed and created by Squamish, Lil'wat and other First Nations artists.

The giftshop can be accessed without paying the admission fee to the Centre - making it the perfect place in Whistler to pick up a memorable gift.
