The Cultural Centre will be the focal point for Aboriginal art and culture in Whistler, offering a variety of Aboriginal Performers including Hoop Dancers, and musical performers from the Squamish and Lil’wat Nations, as well as artists from across British Columbia featured in the Aboriginal Artist Village
located in the Istken Hall.

In partnership with the Whistler Live – Artwalk Inside we will host a large collection of some of the leading First Nations artists from Squamish, Lil’wat and other Northwest Coastal Aboriginal Nations.

Master carvers Aaron Nelson-Moody – Squamish Nation and Delmar Williams – Lil’wat Nation have been commissioned to carve four pieces in our Great Hall. Squamish and Lil’wat Nation Artists are also scheduled to be on site demonstrating their craft on a daily basis.

Join our daily family friendly guided tours with an Ambassador from the Squamish and Lil’wat Nation that includes a captivating 15-minute film, and craft activities.

The SLCC, a not-for-profit initiative is located in Whistler’s upper village at 4584 Blackcomb Way, and embodies the spirit of partnership between the Squamish and Lil’wat Nations, and our shared values around preserving, revitalizing and sharing our traditional and modern cultures with the world. All proceeds from the SLCC are invested in training and cultural revitalization programs for the Squamish Nation and Lil’wat Nation. We invite every Whistler visitor to explore the SLCC, meet the ambassadors, experience a performance and help us celebrate the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
