Help us Develop our New Exhibition – Our Markings

The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre is excited to announce the development of our new exhibition – Our Markings.

Opening on Thursday, April 24, 2014 this exhibition will highlight traditional and contemporary markings including the art and design of tattoo and celebrate the opening of the SLCC Indigenous Knowledges Library.

This will be the first exhibition sharing both Coastal and Interior Salish traditions. As part of this, we are asking you to send us a picture of your tattoo that will become part of the community reflections wall. Instagram style photos preferred.

The aim of the community reflections wall is to give our friends, family and supporters of the SLCC the opportunity to be a part of our exhibition and showcase how your unique markings and identity contribute to the continuity of this practice.

Submission Deadline March 23rd at 11:59pm PST.

The information you provide will be used for the Our Marking Exhibition as well as, the SLCC’s social media efforts.

By submitting your photo you are agreeing that the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre is permitted to use the photo in the Our Markings Exhibition and that no royalties or compensation will be given for photos. Not all photos submitted are guaranteed inclusion in the exhibition. Photos may be treated with a filter similar to Instagram to ensure consistency within the exhibit.

All information submitted other than email addresses may be used in the creation of the exhibit wall. Although this is a temporary installation, we reserve the rights to use the display wall in future Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre exhibits.
