What We Treasure

Hourly from 10am – 5pm, last tour starting at 4pm

Experience the SLCC’s signature tour featuring artifacts, songs, and stories shared by Cultural Ambassadors. Learn about the Squamish and Lil’wat Peoples’ past and present way of life.

Allow approximately 60–90 minutes for the full visit.

The Interpretive Forest Walk replaces this tour at 3pm.

August Feature: The Spo7ez Jam session replaces the 4 pm tour on Wednesdays and Fridays in August. Hear Cultural Ambassadors share a collection of their favourite songs from the Lil’wat Nation and Squamish Nation.

INTERPRETIVE FORESt WALK

Tuesday – Sunday at 3 pm (Replaces Hourly Tour)

The tour begins indoors with a traditional welcome song and a 15-minute film that introduces the cultures and values of the two Nations. From there, participants venture outdoors to walk the forest trail with a Cultural Ambassador who shares knowledge about the local flora and fauna.

Weather-dependent, offered seasonally at 3pm from late May through early October.

Spo7ez Jam SeSSIOn

Wednesday and Friday at 4 pm (Replaces Hourly Tour)

August Feature: Hear Cultural Ambassadors share a collection of their favourite songs from the Lil’wat Nation and Squamish Nation. The Spo7ez Jam session replaces the 4 pm tour on Wednesdays and Fridays in August.

  3. Admission is free for members of the Squamish Nation, the Lil’wat Nation, and Indigenous Peoples upon presentation of a valid Status Card.

Wisdom of the Animal People

Date: Saturday June 13
This feature exhibit shares how animals play important roles in Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh and Líl̓wat7úl cultures - we honour them in many ways. We wear their hides as clothing, feature them in artwork, and they’re the central character in our stories, songs and dances. They’re important educational tools, sharing history, morals and values with our children.

What We Treasure

Date: July 2008 - May 2024 | June 2025 - Present
The What We Treasure Exhibit is the SLCC’s permanent exhibit and collection throughout the Great Hall and Gallery One, and features newly revitalized interpretive content. The What We Treasure collection features original cultural belongings, including baskets, blankets, carvings (such as canoes, spindle whorls, welcome figures, house posts, and story poles), as well as drums, tools, and regalia (traditional clothing).

The Thunderbird Café and Gift Shop are open to the public and are located on the lower level inside the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, in the admission-free area.

Location

The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre is located in Whistler, British Columbia, at 4584 Blackcomb Way in Whistler’s Upper Village.

Parking

Limited parking is available onsite; additional parking is available along Blackcomb Way (2 hours max street parking) and in the Day Lots on Lorimer Road.

Wheelchair Accessibility

Our Cultural Centre is wheelchair accessible and we have wheelchairs onsite available for guests to use. Please contact the SLCC prior to your visit or ask for the chair at our admissions desk upon arrival.

Language Maps

Exhibit maps are available in French, Chinese, Dutch, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Request your copy at the admissions desk upon check in.

Legends of the Land

This summer, experience storytelling unique to the Legends of the Land Exhibit in Gallery 2 including the Owl and the Wild Women of the Woods.

Interpretive Forest Walk

Walk through the forest with Cultural Ambassadors and discover the plants, land, and stories that shape Indigenous knowledge. A guided experience in nature rooted in Squamish and Lil’wat traditions.
