Contemporary Art

July 2008-December 2009

We are the people of the land. Our culture is a reflection of it. As the world around us changes and grows, so do our nations. As Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh Úxumixw and L̓il̓wat7ulh we walk in two worlds both traditional and contemporary.

This exhibition shows how we have brought our traditional artwork and included it in our contemporary athletic equipment, and clothing. See how we adapt to new mediums such as glasswork, beadwork and metal.

“Everything we do today will someday be traditional.”-X̲álek̲ Sekyú Siy̓ám̓, Chief Ian Campbell
